Ondanks de stichting SAM en een bescheiden aandacht bij de Culturele raad, werd er door de gemeenteraad toch voor een zeer grote groep jonge Dordtenaren erg weinig gedaan op het gebied van muzikale ontplooing en verbetering van zowel poppodia en repetitieruimtes en het Dordtse publiek. Het idee van de stunt was voldoende handtekeningen te verzamelen, de inschrijvingskosten te voldoen en in te schrijven in het verkiezingsregister, om daarna zo breed mogelijk in de media de actiepunten onder de aandacht van bestuurders en bevolking brengen. Dat was smullen voor de lokale media en het plan werd zo'n groot succes dat het er zelfs naar uitzag dat de stichting Stichting "Dordt in Rock", voor haar 'kindje' de Poppartij wel 3 gemeenteraadszetels zouden moeten gaan leveren. Zoiets zou ook het leveren van een wethouder kunnen inhouden en dat vonden de organisatoren Wim van der Vloet, John van Heeren en Rob Schouwen wel wat te gortig worden. Er werd contact opgenomen met andere politieke partijen die actief waren in Dordrecht en omstreken. En het samenwerkingsverband van SP, CPN en een 3de partij namen het programma van de poppartij volledig over, waarna de partij werd ontbonden en lijsttrekker Rob Schouwen werd terug getrokken. De stunt heeft effect gehad want er kwamen kort na de verkiezingen inderdaad repetitieruimtes en betere voorzieningen voor poppodia en werden er daarna ook, naast de SAM, andere muziekorganisaties gesubsidieerd en geholpen met ontplooiing. De huidige popcentrale is o.a. daaruit voort gekomen.
